Description

Label: The sophistication that had been achieved in the high-fired ceramic technology by the late 200s is apparent in this jar. The full, round body is a superb example of what can be accomplished on the potter's wheel; the glaze, applied in multiple layers, is thick and even, and was allowed to run toward the bottom; the light green glaze and reddish areas where the clay is exposed show the use of an advanced kiln with both oxidizing and reduction stages in the firing.
