Description

Label: On this snuff bottle of opaque white glass the auspi\-cious large lion (dashi) and its cub (xiaoshi) make a pun in Chinese with taishi and shaoshi, two high ranks in ancient China. Lions playing with brocade balls remind people of the lion dance performed on auspi\-cious occasions. This motif conveys good wishes for high rank, longevity (long ribbons connected to the brocade balls) and joy.
